BROKE ARMY VET TO SIX FIGURE SOFTWARE ENGINEER CAREER

I was in your shoes several years ago. I was an Army Veteran and I worked as Petroleum Supply Specialist on active duty for almost five years. I knew I wanted to be in the IT field and be a software engineer. 

I dreamed of being on a career path that allows me to feel fulfilled, secure, and financially stable. 

When I got out of the Army, I was unemployed for about 8 months, moved back to my parents, was a single mother (recently divorced), and I had debt collectors calling me non-stop.  

I desperately needed to change my situation.  

I started researching on Google, watched videos on YouTube, and tried to reach out to folks who are already in the field.  

Everything I saw was a “day in a life” video of a software engineer and going to school and getting a computer science degree.  

I tried to apply for jobs as a software engineer just based on the small projects I developed from Udemy courses. 

I did not get the job.

I decided to invest 80k into my education and courses. 

Still did not get the job. 

I was frustrated. 

What changed for me is receiving guidance from an experienced developer. 

She shared with me something powerful even though it's common sense but I didn’t think of it at the time. 

She shared with me that Software Development is a skill-driven field.  

I did a complete 180 on my approach to land a software developer role.  

Ever since then, I have been working as a software engineer for a Fortune 500 healthcare company. 

My salary increase went from 30k - 110k. 

This changed my life forever. 

Now I am on a mission to help other transitioning professionals to become software engineers without the confusion and without the high cost of boot camp or college.  

 I started a Facebook Group called Software Engineers Pros for Transitioning Professionals.  

The purpose of the group is to mentor transitioning professionals and host 1-hour training on how to become job ready. 

The team and I worked hard the past few months to provide valuable information and helped over 2k members to move the needle in their transition. 

I decided to scale what we offer inside of the Software Engineers Pros Transitioning Professionals Facebook Group.  

The 1 hour of training every week is not going to cut it to truly make a difference. 

This is where the Software Engineers Pros Program is born. 

The vision is to change the landscape on how software development is being taught and truly prepare to transition professionals to be contributing members of a development team. 

The mission is to help over 100 transitioning professionals land software engineering roles.
